Interview Tips (Updated)

  • Arrive plenty of time in advance of the interview start time.

  • Do your research on Noven, its business, and products.

  • Familiarize yourself with our Mission, Values, and Leadership Principles.

  • Be prepared to provide examples from your current or past work history highlighting your contributions. Focus on the "I" as opposed to the "We" factor.

  • In responding to interviewer questions, we recommend your referencing specific situations/examples from your current or prior roles that illustrate what is being asked. Provide details on the situation/issue you were managing, what actions you took, and the outcome or impact of the situation.

  • Be prepared to share your experience, skills, and goals to allow us to understand why you are the best candidate for the role.

Using video technology for an interview for the first time? Here are some Tips!

  • Prepare for and treat the virtual interview exactly as you would leaving your home for an in-person interview. Look professional- dress for the job you want.
  • Make sure you have the equipment you’ll need (e.g. a laptop with webcam enabled, or a smartphone or tablet on a stand (if you don’t have a computer at home).
  • Check your tech! Double-check the technology you'll be using. Prior to the interview, test the camera and microphone. We recommend that these tests should be completed at least 24 hours before your interview is set to start.
  • While testing your device, if there’s an echo, use a headset or earbuds with built-in microphone.
  • Try not to use a busy internet connection-one that doesn’t have many users connected to it. Ideally, you may want to ask any other person in the household not to use it while you’re performing your interview.
  • Minimize distractions. Turn off all notifications, chats and alerts on your personal devices before the interview begins.
  • Refer to your calendar invite for instructions on how to access the Noven video-conferencing technology for your interview.
  • Select an uncluttered, quiet space to sit, with a neat and clean background, making sure that the space is well-lit.
  • Make ‘eye’ contact by looking directly into the camera when speaking and listening. To accomplish this, you should look at the webcam instead of the screen when speaking.
  • Use the mute button when you’re not speaking to minimize noise or feedback.
  • Ask questions of us- lots of them- during your interview meetings. The interview is about you. Since you are meeting us virtually, it is more difficult to get a real sense of who we are as an organization. Asking relevant questions about our culture and what life is like at Noven will be helpful to you.
  • Most importantly, be yourself! Even though we may be meeting by video, we do want to get a feel for your personality, so make sure you show it.
